Kyrgyz Republic worsened its positions in the index of perception of corruption in 2023 (IVK)

In 2023, the Kyrgyz Republic worsened its positions in the index of perception of corruption (TI), taking 141 places and scoring 26 points, while in 2022 it took 140th place with 27 points.

The Kyrgyz Republic was evaluated as a country with a high level of corruption, improved its position in 2020, but subsequently worsened its positions over the past three years. This may be associated with various factors such as lack of resources, insufficient political will or insufficient efficiency of anti -corruption measures.

As indicated on the official Transparency International page, in just four years, Kyrgyzstan has turned from a bastion of democracy with an active civil society, into a consolidated authoritarian regime that uses its justice system to persecute critics of power. This helps to increase the level of corruption, as evidenced by a decrease in the country's index by five points since 2020.

The perception of corruption shows that Kyrgyzstan continues to experience problems with corruption, which can affect the economic development of the country and the level of public confidence in the government.
