The purpose of the project was to strengthen democracy in the Kyrgyz Republic through increased cooperation between citizens and government bodies in the sphere of anti-corruption and increased organizational capacity of CSOs working on prevention of corruption.
As part of the project, the following tasks were completed:
- cooperation between the “Network for the Prevention of Corruption” and government agencies, as well as local governments on issues of corruption prevention and accountability has been expanded by increasing the capacity of Network members and implementing mini-grants;
- assistance was provided to state bodies and local governments in increasing the level of transparency of the state budget and public procurement through the training of monitoring experts and their further monitoring of public procurement and budget transparency.
The fulfillment of these tasks was achieved through the implementation of the following activities:
- conducting an online school for activists and members of the Network for the Prevention of Corruption;
- monitoring budget transparency of state bodies and local governments and monitoring public procurement;
- implementation of mini-initiatives in the Tyup district, Karakol, Balykchy, Bishkek (3 initiatives) aimed at strengthening efforts to prevent corruption, raising awareness among citizens, instilling intolerance towards corruption, ensuring transparency in the activities of state bodies and local governments , involving citizens in the process of preventing corruption and monitoring public procurement.
