28.04.2021

The main goal of the legal system is to protect our rights every day. Human rights are a system of values, a guide for creating a society in which we would like to live. On the topic “Human rights and corruption” the guest lecture was held by Zhyldyz Tegizbekova, PhD in law, teacher of the Ala-Too International University, lecturer at the WIPO Academy, researcher at the school of Public Services at the University, DePaul academic trainer, expert in international law.

If we take a retrospective look at the relationship between corruption and human rights, it goes back to the period after the Second World War, when the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Human Freedom was adopted in 1948. In the 1990s, the international community acknowledged the need to fight against corruption, considering it a global obstacle to economic development and a high-quality, worthy human life.

Corruption is a huge obstacle to the realization of human rights, civil, political, economic, social and cultural, as well as the right to development. Corruption undermines an entire system of human rights. The lecturer gave many examples of how corruption negatively affects human rights and the quality of life.

During the lecture, there were active discussions of vital issues of the impact of corruption on human rights.

We express our deep gratitude to Zhyldyz Tegizbekova for a very productive, exciting and useful lecture.
