Can Latvian chocolate equate to a bribe? 🍫 The answer may be ambiguous, isn’t it? But our listeners certainly distinguish between what is a gift and what is a bribe. Especially after a lecture by Mr. Jaroslav Streljenok, who is an international anti-corruption expert of OSCE and the Council of Europe, he is also the first head of the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) of Latvia from 2011 to 2017. Our guest gave a lecture on “Conflict of Interest. Declaration of Income and Expenses of Public Officials as a Mechanism of Corruption Prevention”, where he explained in more detail the importance and need for accountability, publicity and accessibility, the neglect of which can lead to serious risks in public administration. The lecture was energetic and creative, and most importantly with great benefit. Big thanks to Mr. Yaroslav Strelchenok for the informative lecture.Academic anti-corruption certified program is implemented in cooperation with the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic with the financial support of the Soros Foundation – Kyrgyzstan.
